| Electropolishing is a process which brightens stainless steel. Standard types of electropolishing do not remove metal uniformly. The resulting dimensions are usually out of blueprint tolerance. However, this is not a problem with Summa Processing due to the uniform rate of metal removal. Removing 0.0005" from a surface and maintaining a tolerance of plus or minus 0.0002" is readily achievable. While the surface of the metal is being brightened, it is also being refined and passivated. The metal is also being deburred and purged of hydrogen. | |

Summa Processing
is an advanced form of electropolishing. It is an
electro-chemical process which provides formally unachievable
results on machined parts, castings, forgings, stampings,
fabrications, tooling and raw materials. Chromium and nickel,
which are components of stainless steel, are electroytically drawn
to the surface. In essence, the effect is very similar to
chrome plating except that there is no adhesion with which to be
concerned. |
